OSHA Mandate Solution Top 10 Checklist for Employers

1. Vaccine Verification
Not all vaccine verification programs are created equally. Unfortunately, at this time, there is no vendor that is able to verify a vaccine card against ALL vaccine provider databases. However, we recommend choosing a vendor that has a systematic process for reviewing each vaccine card submission for legitimacy.

2. Cost-Effective Weekly COVID Testing
Employers have many options for COVID testing. There are 3 main considerations:
a. Accuracy - The most accurate COVID tests are PCR and other molecular tests. The least accurate are antigen tests.
b. Rapid vs. Send Out - Employers can also choose from rapid point of care tests with 15 minute turnaround times vs. send out to lab tests with typically 24-72 hour turnaround times.
c. At-Home vs. On-Site - Both molecular and antigen tests have self-administered at-home and worksite collection options. The at-home antigen tests are rapid and the at-home PCR tests require a send out.

3. Minimal or No Testing Footprint at Workplace
While testing at the workplace can work, self-administered at-home testing is the ideal option to satisfy this goal. We recommend choosing a vendor with an app that can verify test results remotely.

4. Integration of #1 and #2
This is an "either/or" mandate. A good solution is one that integrates both vaccine verification and testing into one program that makes the experience simple for employees.

5. Adherence to All Privacy Rules and Regulations
It goes without saying that this program will collect personal health information and must be HIPAA-compliant with proof of data security protocols and incident response plans.

6. Employee Workplace Entry Screening
It is ideal if your program has a process by which each employee who enters the workplace can be screened for compliance. QR-code solutions offer a seamless approach for these screenings.

7. Employer Reporting Dashboard
Employer access to a real time, HIPAA-compliant dashboard that shows which employees are compliant is a valuable feature.

8. Proper Management of Positive COVID Tests
Testing unvaccinated employees weekly is not enough. What happens when a test comes back positive? Employers need a program that can address all of the following questions: "What are our quarantine protocols?" "Can we perform contact tracing?" "What is our return-to-work process?"

9. HIPAA-Compliant Data Repository for Audits
There may come a time that OSHA or another department in the federal government will audit an employer to ensure compliance with the mandate. Therefore, securely storing data is key.

10. Customer Service Hotline for Employees
Finally, from our experience, employees always run into issues and have corresponding questions. Programs with FAQs, chat sessions, and telephone customer service lines avoid employee frustration and ensure a turnkey operation.
